Okay this is one side of the issue, whether anyone wants to hear it or not...

The pornography has become absurd. I used to come to this board every day. I didn't know very much about bodybuilding, but I learned a lot. I was afraid to ask questions regarding exercise because I didn't want anyone to know how much of a beginner I was :rolleyes: So, despite the fact that I read practically every post on this board, I usually only POSTED in general chat. Now, I rarely ever come here anymore, even just to read. The reason is because I think it's tasteless, sexist, disgusting, and degrading that this has become a site for guys to log on and jack off while staring at pictures of naked women (i don't care how many millimeters of thread cover their butt cracks, they might as well be naked!) Call me old-fashioned or prude, but the fact is... I just don't want to see it, or especially visit a site that promotes it. I was under the impression that this site was for bodybuilders of (here's the catch) *all ages and sexes*, but it seems to me that the general chat portion has just gotten out of hand and has now become something from which I must safeguard my browsing. I ignored it for a while, but it has just become unseemly. People refer to these inept photographs in other threads all the time... pornography does not only dwell in the "Friday's Hotties" thread, as some may argue. Posters make reference to these pictures in entirely separate threads, which adverts lurkers that just want to see a clean site about health and exercise to learn a little and help themselves. Please just think about how frustrating it is for someone that wants to log on and visit a clean site. The boards were fun before all of the pornography was here, so why do you NEED it?

I was going to make a smartass comment about this, but considering the subject, I'll have a real discussion.

What is it in fact that is so offensive about the human body? You are here because you want to improve your body. The mindset of sexual repression is old, outdated, and quite frankly, the cause of many, many psychological disorders and perversions.

I don't see you complaining about the numerous threads involving violence, and we've had plenty. It seems that people in this country are more concerned about their children seeing a female breast than they are with seeing a murder.

Its a damn shame that Faces of Death can be considered a comedy to some, yet a porno movie is considered "wrong," "immoral," and "evil."

Try to take a new perspective, and keep your priorities in order. Seeing a woman in a bathing suit, provocative or not, isn't hurting a DAMN thing, and until you can prove that it is harmful to anyone in ANY way, leave the matter alone.

I dont think its that bad, I hope it wont turn into another site where every other post is a Fridays hotties. And maybe you are right, its not like it is hard to find pictures like that else where.

But its only once a week, its always the same person posting it and the thread is always named fridays hotties. And I have not seen anything else in other threads.

Faux, while agreeing with you I also think you are being a touch melodramatic and blowing it out of proportion somewhat.

I too agree with you that this site is for bodybuilders that want to learn about bodybuilding and health. This is what wannabebig is geared towards and always will be. End of story.

As for a forum dedicated to this kind of thing? It just isn't gonna happen and myself and some of the other mods have pretty much outlined in depth why we don't want this and faux you pretty much covered that quite well. The main one being it would take away from what the main objective of this site is.

However as for it going on everyday is not really true.

This is a general chat area and its subjects are wide ranging. Once a week theres a thread up that has some NON pornographic pictures in and it is clearly labbelled "friday's hotties" So if you don't want to read this or find it "tasteless, sexist, disgusting, and degrading then don't click on it!

Yeah we get a friday's hottie thread and spidey makes sure that that remains tastefull and so that it is NOT pornography. I think thats a pretty good compromise and hardly means that this has "become a site for guys to log on and jack off while staring at pictures of naked women"

Rest assured that the main focus of wbb will be to provide non bs advice for bodybuilders and to discuss bodybuilding related subjects. I could of easily let the pic thing get out of control by now but it is in control and will remain so.

If you want to email me some of the examples you see as cross referencing all these threads so that it is impossible for you to browse chat without seeing these then please do..

Compared to other forums, this one is squeaky clean...don't quite understand where your rant came from FauxPas, but you're entitled to your opinion...

I have no problem with the Friday Hotties...they don't do anything for me, but they don't bother me. Spidey keeps them in good taste for the most part.

Despite my arguments as to how a jockstrap is any different from a thong, I have no issues with the occasional pic. Hulk is doing a good job of allowing us freedom while keeping the forum focused and on topic.

What makes you think you know anything about my priorities? I just think it's disgusting and, like I said, it ADVERTS someone wanting to visit a clean site. I guess it's not entirely the pictures that disgust me, it's the COMMENTS made when the pictures are posted that i see as tasteless, sexist, disgusting and degrading. I am not the one being childish about this. I am certainly of an age which allows me to view pornographic material without feeling the need to make perverted comments about them... so I don't... actually, I don't even look at it. I was sooo incredibly wrong to assume that others on here might be mature enough to handle it. The fact is, I do find it extremely tasteless, sexist, disgusting, degrading, and IMMATURE when I look in other threads, NOT LABELED FRIDAY'S HOTTIES, and grown men are randomly posting "I love ass & titties... mmmmmmm. why is porn degrading? I would find being a tiolet cleaner far more degrading. On a basic level we are flatting these women, as ultamately we are born to procreate. to do this we search for our ideal mate. part of this is related to figure. we are saying that we want these women to have our children. which is a very special gift. We are not aware we are doing this, but thats what we are doing in our mind. So technically they should be flattered as we do not want to have children with every women.

If I gave you the impression that I thought nude models were subjacent to myself, or that pornographic photography was a declasse career choice, it was unintentional. My post had nothing to do with these women or how much money they make. I only wanted to voice that I have, many times, been offended by comments posted as a result of the Friday's Hotties thread. I can only say that, in my own persuasion, this thread and the comments that ensue have been regarded as inappropriate- I don't think that the models themselves are pertinent to this matter.

FauxPas doesn't like the pics or the comments found on the board. She's entitled to her opinion. I don't think her opinion is unusual or abnormal. If my wife or my mother got to this site, I think they would be offended by quite a bit of stuff that goes on here. If most of the women that I know in my town looked at the board, same thing. There's a few nurses in the two O.R.s I work in that wouldn't have a problem with this stuff, but they're actually in the minority of the grown women I know. Comments like "shes ****en hot" and "man i love titties" are offensive to most adults. I personally couldn't care less, but I do realize that most people do. Sure, everybody has the choice to not visit the board, but this is not a men's club and people including women should be able to come here and not be offended. I'm not throwing stones here; my mind is just as warped as anybody else's here. We just need to realize that people want to come here and not have to wade through the vile comments that seem (to me) to becoming more commonplace.

And FauxPas, I have a bit more insight into your priorities than you might think.
