what is a typical waist size (inches) that a very well trained male would have? i guess i ask because ive always been in the 34 range depending on the type of pants, in the past couple months ive dropped a lot of fat yet im still a 34. just curious if some people, regardless of how 'in shape' they are have a 'set' waist size. (unless of course they get very obese)

I'm not sure but I went from a 38 inch to where now my 32's are falling off me, the thing is doesnt it have a lot to do with the size of your butt? Because I virtually have no @ss :D
By the way I heard the other day that Shaquille O'Neal has a size 54 waist!!

Yea, your waist can only get so small.....it's like wanting a smaller wrist or ankle after you're already shredded....all in the bones...
Glutes and quads also do a lot...I'd like to buy 30" waist, but my glutes and quads have other ideas...even 32" jeans need to really be stretched so they don't look painted on

From my experience: big squat = big ass. Most chicks seem to like it!!:D

It depends on at least 2 factors I can think of... genetics and type of lifting. Some guys don't have the build for a tight narrow (aka wasp) waist. Steve Reeves did, for example... 28 or 29" I think. Heavy squatting and deadlifting will thicken the muscles of the midsection (which includes the lower back, remember).
I think everyone tends to think of 30-32" as the Holy Grail of waist size. But what does it matter as long as you're strong and muscular.
Even at my height of 5'5" and when I lose the excess fat, I don't think I'll get much below a 34" waist. I just don't think that's in my build.

I'd guess the average male is around 32-33"

Are you serious? How old are you? I think I had a 24" waist in 4th grade! And I always was a very skinny kid.

I didn't know it was possible to get that small.
I have a 32" waist but i dont think that it has much to do with the size of ur ass does it? - not unless you are talking about buying a pair of pants or something.
Isn't ur waist measured around the hip area ?
Also, with regards to squatting making asses bigger, does anyone actually have this as one of their training goals? Because pros dont have big assess do they?
Sayiajin Prince (the 24 " guy) I recommend a good squatting routine and silicone injection to ur butt. Then u can start shopping for pants again >>>

Waist is measured around your belly button. Hips are measured around your hips.
