How do you find you bf%?

For the 'common' person, you could buy some calipers.

If you have access, you could get put into a dunk tank at a hospital and get tested. That's probably the most accurate test.

Don't trust formulas you find on the net.

There are many ways to find your BF. I don't know how accurate this is but its a start

Try this site

thanx for the site, but it just said my bf was somewhere between 4.7 and 8.8. That's a pretty big gap, and I'm having trouble believing either. I'm 6'0", 160 pounds, 29" waist. If anyone else is in the same boat, whats your bf%?

Use estimate #2 based on waist size and weight. I think that is more accurate then first.

I am
6'1, 206lbs, 33' wast.
Estimated body fat of 10.5% (21.6 pounds of fat)

I think that pretty close

I think that is way off for me...I'm 6'2'', 180 lbs. with a 30 inch waist and it says I have a bf% of 6.3!! No way in hell I'm below 10% yet because there is no six pack in sight!

i've found this link to be fairly accurate....

Navy Circumference Method (http://www.he.net/~zone/prothd2.html)

however it appears to be down at the moment. sorry.

I wouldn't trust those formulas online. I've found most of them to be completely innaccurate.

Based on the one that Tryska just gave it said..

Your weight is: 207 pounds
Your sex is: Male
Your Body Fat percentage is: 17
Your Lean Body Mass is: 172 pounds
Your 'Ideal' weight is: 198 pounds
Your activity factor is: 0.83

I dont think that is entirely accurate. I mean my LBM is 172? I highly doubt it. The time that I actually had my bf% tested, it said my LBM was 185-190 lbs.

Where do you guys measure your waist?

Tryska, are you serious about the navy site. I've never put much faith in the militay's way of doing that stuff. You could be big and muscular, and still be put on "the fat boy program" according to the way the mil. does it sometimes.

The military methods of testing fat are usually pretty unreliable. I don't know how the Navy does it, but I know the Air Force's method is ******ed. For a few they may seem accurate but for many that isn't the case. One of my buddies who lifts weights got put on the fat boy list just like Slim Shaedie said.

Wooster, skinfold calipers are the best "convenient" way to get tested. If you want the most accurate method available to you you can get tested by hydrostatic weighing. Some hospitals and universities do this. Call a local hospital or, if there is a university nearby, call their kinesiology department and see if they can accomodate you. At the university I go to they will test anyone (for a small fee) using hydrostatic weighing or a device called a Bodpod. The bodpod is similar to the hydrostatic method, except that instead of displacing water, it displaces air. And you don't have to get wet. :)

I just used that navy test and it told me my bf% is 1%. I know my bf% is actually around 20%. What could have gone wrong?

Navy thing is saying I'm at 16...I'm betting I'm closer to 13, but still decent

Ouch. Both sites are off. I can pinch an inch or 2 or 3 (I have a roll) on my gut, my legs/arms are very lean, but still..

Navy has me at 10%

The other has me at 6.2% and 13.3%.

If you're like me, you know when the spare tire needs changing but you can never get around to changing it. ;)

Strats: your sig is hilarious.
