it's not just stretching.

it's meditation, it's breathing control, it's strength building, and it enhances flexibility. it's a bit deeper then just stretching your muscles out.

kinda like a mind-body focusing technique which puts you in touch with yourself.

that being said......i like it because it's made me stronger mentally and physically...and i don't practice as much as i should....but i think it's awesome.

Cool, it's something i want to look into. Got any good links T?

Also, could the stretching help my lifting or help muscle growth?

well i've heard from many people (not necessarily questionable sources) that it helps "lengthen" muscles. not sure of the validity of that claim, and haven't had the time nor inclination to scientifically reason it out, but i know it definitely will help with coordination, balance, and "grace". as wella s the mental benefits.

i did find one link for ya, that might help....i've enver actually learned about it ont he web....i've learned from books, since i was little. (i used to play at yoga as a little kid...*lol* it was fun)

actually the guys that have been in the yoga classes i've been in have had some pretty phenomenal bods. they were a bit too crunchy granola liberal for my tastes though...

Go to your local library; they probably have Yoga movies to rent. Or get a book.

You may also want to look into Tai Chi which has all of the benefits of Yoga plus it can be used as a deadly art as well. Just a suggestion though...many people who study martial arts supplement their training with yoga.
