Biting frickin' nails

Anyone else bite their finger nails?

I used to when i was a kid but managed to stop. recently [like 10 years after] i've began biting them again and i have no idea why, and worse still i can't remember how i managed to stop in the first place! :(

well....you could get fake tips put on your nails, but that would be gay.

so you can keep them real short, so there is nothing to bite (but if it's a nervous habit, you will probably gnaw on them anyway). Or the old-fashioned way was to put bile on people's finger tips so that they wouldn't put their fingers anywhere near their mouths. I believe most drugstores sell some preparation that is similar to this whole negative conditioning method. It tastes bitter anyway, from what I understand.

ya trys its a transparant nail polish called Byte-X and it tastes really gross so youll think twice about biting them.

I think it is too seriously nasty tasting... once you get it in your mouth you wont get rid of the taste for at least 3 hours and its literally sickening.

Great for practical jokes though, like putting it on ur dads toothbrush

I only bite the nails when they get ragged and I don't have a nailclipper around. My big problem is chewing, digging and generally mucking with my cuticles.

back when my nails were brittle and weak, i would bite them in an anal retentative effort at keeping them even as they broke. Now that they are all long and strong again, i leave them be.

If you can't stop biting your nails like me you will eventually develop a taste for that polish you put on your nails. i started to like the taste of it. lol:D

Reinier is right I used to bite my nails when I was a kid and I used transparant nail polish and I remember that after putting my fingers in my mouth I would litterally rush for some toothpaste and brush my teeth twice in a row to get the bitter taste out of my mouth. And CD try focusing on something else like instead of bitting your nails try playing videogames or something else to focus your thoughts on

I bite mine, but it's a controlled habit. I only bite them when they need trimming.

i never bite mine since i am kind of a hygiene freak and i dont exactly see fingernails as edible stuff from a hygiene aspect

I just carry around a pair of finger nail clippers. I haven't bitten(sp) my nails in about 2 years because of that.

i never bite my nails as i can't. Though i broke my jaw 4 years ago, so finding biting difficult.

Chicken that may not be the most practical way to do it but its work. I am sure yates will not mind traveling up to you to help cure your nail biting habit.

I do it out of nervousness and/or boredom. I have to be real careful that my nails don't get too short because I have to be able to clean beneath them.

I also chew the fook outta my skin round my nails. My hands are in a right state.

CD I do pretty much the exact same thing...I think the rest of the foos on this board are the abnormal ones...what the fook else am I supposed to do in the middle of traffic when I notice a nail is almost at the point where I can get another fingernail underneath it. :p
