to update anyone who remembers my back injury post in general chat, my back is getting better slowly but i was told if it was'nt better by today to come back in. so this afternoon i will be going back to see the doctor. i must have done a number on myself cause i never have gone this long with a back injury. i am usually able to get back to normal after about 3-5 days, it's been 5 days now and i still don't think i can do much. i know there will be now working out but i will have to go back to work soon, money is getting tight and my boss won't like me being gone this long. i may try to go in for a couple of days for like 5 hours or so, to see how things work. anyway, just thought i'd update yall.

well regardless, take it easy bro and let it heal up good, cuz you don't want this to become chronic. Can you do half'days at work for awhile?

tryska they thing is this is chronic for me. i hurt my back when i was 15 and was told to be in bed for a week, i was there a day and that was it. it healed but i have had lowe back problems since. since i started working out 6 years ago i have'nt had too much trouble with it but once in awhile i get back spasms which are quite painfull. as for taking it easy i plan to. i may do some light swimming today and then get in the hot tub afterwards, wish you could be there....lol, and see how that goes. i can ask for half shifts but i work at night so it would be a little harder to do so. nevertheless, i think i'll wait another day or so and go ask if i can work a few 4 or 5 hour shifts later this week and see how it goes. i hate not being able to workout, it's killing me. i don't even think i'll play basketball this wednesday we do every week. i'll wait and see what goes down this afternoon.

ha ha hercules.....wouldn't want you to throw your back out again...;)
anyways...would strengthening your core help any? (lowback extensions, deadlifts, abwork). Not right now of course, but in the future? well you put it out doing goodmornings, right? perhaps your form needs a little work?
and definitely get your workouts from swimming...that's one of the best cardio activities you could do, especially when injured....

lol, i'd risk it for you tryska.:D
my form is good on the goodmornings, what had happend is i think the floor is slightly slanted, not soo much as you are off balanced but where you can feel it slightly more in one leg, not too much though. i figured i'd come in the opposite direction and do them to counterbalance things, well, the things did'nt feel right and the weight became off balace on my back so i shifted it some and on the 8th rep i did it. i know now what not to do. i do ab work but maybe i should do it before my squat/goodmorning routine. i think once this blows over i'll do more core work like some deads and more all around ab work. funny thing is my back is'nt bothered during squats which a lot of people say they do feel the strain.
yeah i know simming is good and i think i'll get up in the morning and take a walk to try and start rehabing myself back to health. i wish i could afford a chiropractor, my dad has a good friend down here who's one. at least i could get the electro-massage, ahh now that would feel nice.

ok, went back to the doctor today and he said to continue to lay off of work and lifting. he did ok me to go back to work when i felt i could handle light duty. i called in and work is ok with it. things are cool there. the doctor also said swimming would be beneficial to me as i told him i had planned on doing some today. got my meds refilled and i am ready to recover. i think i'll go in friday for a few hours and see how i feel. maybe i can squeez in a few hours satuday and sunday as well but not too many. next week i need to go back to my normal work routine and maybe start lifting again but use machines or light weight.
