E.g. products used, what extremes do you go to?

you want a girlie opinion?
proper nutrition
adequate water intake
plenty of beauty sleep...
I exfoliate once a week, use a noxema type face soap in the shower...and a non-oily moisturizer.
and umm..that's about it.

Here's one for ya Tryska. Let it be known that I shave my arms with a razor and I drink plenty of water.
My arms near my elbows and my forearm always get dry. This probably because of shaving?
FAngel; I use soap in the shower. I wash my face once a day. And I use lotion if I'm tanning. That's about it.

I used to suffer with acne :( Its a lot better now but my skin is far from perfect..
I found a lot of the potions my doctor gave me really did not help one bit...
I found more help with eating clean and more water...

no...you just have dry skin......put some moisturizer on after your done showering.....or what I do is put baby oil on while my skin is still wet...and that keeps my skin from getting dry and itchy later on through the day.
edit....err actually I just read where you said you shaved your arms..(the first time i though you meant armpits). Yes...the shaving will make your skin drier, because your taking off the top layer along with the hair.....definitely try the baby oil idea, because it will serve a dual purpose in keeping the hairs soft so they don't get ingrown as well.
I use noxema on my face. I hate bar soap, i only use body wash. As far as the dry skin with shaving your arms, i've got some avon skin moisturizer that works wonders, its well ace.
This might help, Witch Hazel. I have very sensitive skin on my neck and can only shave about 3 times a week. About a month ago I started using witch hazel on my face and neck after shaving and it does seem to help. There is less irritation, dryness, ingrown hairs, everthing.

yeah...witch hazel is a great gentle toner.
I typically use it after my weekly exfoliation.
Wash my face with the noxema stuff, apply the mud mask...wash the mask off, apply witchhazel. works like a charm.

I use Tea tree oil and Aloe vera products to keep acne away.. I never had though but just to be sure.
I don't use after shaves.They contain alcohol(most of them).

Sleep is extremely important for skin, anytime I stay up for 24 or more hours without sleep my skin gets nasty.
That's all I can input.

i've always had pretty good skin, but recently, i've been breaking out and it hasn't gone away. so a few weeks ago, i got pro activ solution, and it does wonders. it's a bit pricey, but it works, really well.

Every morning, I wash my face with Basis Cleaner Clean Oil-Free and Soap-Free face wash. Then I follow that up with Fruit of The Earth Multi-Vitamin Rejuvenating Lotion all over my face and body. Before I go to bed, I wash my face again and then I use 100% Pure Vitamin E Gel on my face. I used to have some acne too and that Basis face wash REALLY helped clear it up. I have used it ever since and really haven't had any breakouts since!!! :D

Wash my face occasionally with water. No medicine or any of that crap works for me. It just makes me break out even more. Plain water is best. Drink water, get sleep and don't lean on your face and acne should go away. It did for me.

I use Clearasil Daily face wash once a day.
I used to suffer from bad acne.
Now my skin is much better.

Also, when I used to break out a lot, my doctor told me to change my pillow case often because it harbors bacteria which causes acne! I thought it was good advice... so now I change my pillow case every 2 days. I guess you could say I've got pillow-case-paranoia!!!

I totally agree with Fauxpaus916.
I break out with a couple zingers everytime I sleep with my face on my pillow.
It never fails.
Soooo I sleep on my back.

Dang...I thought I accidentally stumbled into "The Chick Zone" ;)
I wash my face with Neutrogena soap in the morning and at night. In the winter when my skin is dry, I put moisturizer lotion on afterwards.

Yes, key rules. Don't sleep face down. Don't sleep on a dirty pillowcase. Wash your hands a lot. Do not lean on your face with your hands. Avoid touching your face as much as you can. Best to pop pimples only when they get to whitehead stage, also.

If you have acne taking 135 mg of zinc daily might give you slight improvements.

Not me personally, but it has helped my cousin. Also, I came across studies that showed that people with acne have lower than normal levels of zinc in their bodies. Several small double blind studies have shown positive results when taking zinc supplements to help acne.
