Hey all!
I was just wondering about who here actually supplements on top of their daily diet and/or a multi vitamin with extra Calcium.

I personally don't bother with extra calcium supps....I drink plenty of milk, eat loads of yoghurts and cheese etc.

I also live in an area where the tap water is 'hard', making calcium supps definately unnecessary.

I supplement with calcium during cold/flu when dairy (calcium caseinate) should not be taken as it forms mucus.

During cutting, I put vinegar in boiling skim milk to make cottage cheese.

The cottage cheese in supermarkets have too much sodium.

Broccoli, green leafy vegetables and canned salmon with bones have calcium too.

Hope this helps.

Sav, you don't consume dairy at all, so you should supplement with Calcium.

Please let me know if there is something wrong with that, healthwise. My parents used to put lemon juice in milk to make cottage cheese. Essentially it separates out the solid cottage cheese and the rest of the liquid is thrown away. I wash the cottage cheese in cold running water before consuming. Cottage cheese is high in protein and contains very little lactose (sugars).

Nothing at all wrong with that gary. Other cottage cheese is formed from the lactic acid formed in curded milk! I'm curious if you add some milk after you rinse it or just eat the curd?

I take in alot of the B's something like 5000% RDA and about 500mg Magnesium and 2000mg Vit C. I get calcium from the 3 - 4 pints of milk I have a day.

cottage cheese is different from curd right?

These acids (acetic acid or vinegar, citric acid or lemon juice) break down the milk into clear greenish liquid and cottage cheese at high temperature.

I rinse the cottage cheese with some cold water and eat it.
